Here’s a curveball: the Film Pigs do an alternate DVD commentary for a movie they absolutely LOVE*. We do an admirable job of actually talking about the movie instead of quietly watching or just reciting every single line as it’s spoken (although some of that is involuntary, like breathing or growing nose hair). Joining us for his 12th official viewing of Caddyshack is filmmaker and friend of the Pigs, Frank Stokes! So, we’ve got that going for us. Which is nice. (IMDb)

I’ve always been kind of fascinated by the enormous amount of hatred that people in the business seem to have for Chevy Chase.
I know Drew McWeeny said that a director who worked with Chase will only respond with the worst obscenities if Chase’s name is brought up.
Granted, I’ve not read the SNL book, but outside of that I don’t think I’ve ever heard or read a single substantiated anecdote about anything he has done that has caused such venom against him. And I’ve read all kinds of biographies that recount vile behavior by even the most beloved stars.
So what did he do, apart from make some very bad films later in his career? Strangle someone’s puppy?
Great choice guys, but please do your next commentary on the sequel, a film I was told was GOD awful but for some fucked up reason I enjoyed (Probably just down to Chevy being a dude). Still even that beats the usual shit from today’s so-called funnymen, Stiller, Wilson, Sandler etc
Is simply a miserable racist and homophobe who treats everyone like shit. The SNL book exemplifies his behavior, and my father-in-law directed the pilot for The Chevy Chase Show and couldn’t have been happier when he got fired.
Oh, man! This was posted over a month ago? I feel like a fool for not checking back for so long. And for a comedy classic no less. I can’t wait to listen to it with the movie. 🙂
