Terminator Franchise Bidding War?

I would never have guessed there would be a bidding war for the Terminator franchise, and I certainly never would have guessed an indie film producer would get involved:

Yesterday, it looked like Lionsgate would win the property with an outright purchase, with an upfront payment of at least half of the $29.5 million that Pacificor spent to claim the property in a bankruptcy auction. That was until Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Films came in with a bid that was higher. (via Deadline)

Now I can’t stop thinking about a Terminator movie that ditches Schwarzenegger and is directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

UPDATE: Looks like she won! Unfortunately, it looks like Schwatrzenegger is still attached to star. As a creaky old Terminator, I guess.
